Swinging with the Orang Utans all the way to Borneo

Snapshot: A well known FMCG company in Australia treated their top 8 sales people and their partners to a lavish incentive trip featuring Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Malaysia.
Number: 20 guests
Dates: 6 days - October 2008
Hotels: Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Westin Kuala Lumpur
Gifts: Maui Jim Sunglasses fitted in the Malaysian Airlines Golden Lounge.
Day 1: Guests were escorted to the Malaysian Airlines Golden Lounge and welcomed with their own fitted pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses for the trip. They arrived into Kota Kinabalu very late in the evening.
Day 2: Guests visited the Orang Utan Viewing Centre located at the resort, followed by lunch at the pool bar. The afternoon offered a Mengkabong Water Village and Crab Catching Tour. There was only one crab caught, causing much excitement! It was a day of seafood when the evening was spent at Kampong Nelayan Restaurant. With a cultural performance, the night also became interactive - complete with blowpipe to shoot balloons!
Day 3: An early flight to Sandakan was worth it when the group arrived at the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary for a private feeding and introduction to the rehabilitation programme, followed by lunch at the English Tea House. Upon return to KK, the group had an afternoon of relaxation and enjoyed a fantastic hawker stall dinner buffet with a difference the amount of food and different flavours was outstanding.
Day 4: Spa, Golf or nothing was the morning plan, followed by a quick late lunch and flight to the capital, KL. Guests enjoyed the privileges of Westin Executive Club rooms including afternoon drinks and canapes. Dinner was in house at the exclusive Eest Restaurant and guests dined on a Six Course Pan Asian Inspirations Menu.
Day 5: A morning tour of historical Malacca, where the architecture and history in the small old town was very interesting. The farewell dinner was at Bijan Restaurant and Bar. The meal was superb and the tastes were amazing.
Day 6: A visit to KL isn't complete without a day of shopping at leisure. Thankfully the shoppers had planned ahead, brining oversized suitcases! After a thoroughly lavish week, guests spent their remaining ringgit on fake handbags and cheap and cheerful shoes before returning on late afternoon flights back to their homes cities.

5 day's and 300 delegates - Bring it On! Franchisee, Retail Manager and Staff Conference!

An integral part of the success of the event was credited to Conference Call's logistics, including:

Snapshot:

A well known telecoms company hosted a 5 day, 300 delegate conference for three different audiences.

Number:

Up to 300 delegates.

Date:

11-15 May 2008.

Hotel:

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, QLD.

Set up:

A massive production and logistics crew from ABT (www.abt.com.au) and Conference Call oversaw an all day set up and hotel pre-conference meeting involving all hotel department heads.

Day 1:

200 guests flew to Cairns and were coached to the hotel throughout the day in staggered arrivals. Dinner was a roving affair, where delegates could eat, learn and interact at any of the various Supplier House Parties. Dessert and the well earned post dinner drinks were served in the hotel's Gazebo.

Day 2:

The Retail Managers Conference kicked off at 9.00am. Burgers with the works  - complete with supplier displays - took place in the outdoor Gazebo for lunch. The Conference continued throughout the afternoon, whilst another 50 delegates arrived. The gala dinner was an elegant affair, as cheerleaders performed and an "angel aerial" dancer entertained from the clouds! Awards were abundant and well deserved.

Day 3:

160 guests departed and more arrived as the Franchisee Conference began. The afternoon session took form as a tour of the supplier village. An outdoor BBQ lunch delighted the new attendees on their first day in the tropics and they also experienced the roving dinner as on day 1.

Day 4:

A communication caf was the theme of the day for the Franchisees, paving the way for an interesting format to conduct a conference. They sat grouped in twos and held intimate discussion groups. The farewell dinner was a magical experience set in the rainforest surrounded by the flicker of candles and the sites and sounds of the surrounds.

Day 5:

Breakfast and departure, with Conference Call efficiently dispatching all guests to their various home locations.

Aloha Hawaii - Hello Vegas! By David Dymmott (December 2008)

David Dymmott on a boatI have returned from a 6 day whirlwind Hawaii and Las Vegas famil. As a guest of Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and Las Vegas Convention Bureau, I set out to see first hand the myriad of venues and operators we've used through the years.

The tour encompassed inspections in Hawaii of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Moana Surfrider. Halekulani Hotel, Sheraton Waikiki, USS Missouri, Kualoa Ranch, Twist at Hanohano, Hyatt Regency Waikiki., Hawaiian Cultural Cruise, Kahala Resort, Dolphin Encounter. Of course no famil in Hawaii is complete without an indulgence in one of many day spas, swimming in the ocean, hotel pools and my personal favourite ukulele and hula dancing lessons! Hawaii is such a special destination and only 10hours flight from Sydney!

Vegas was also non stop in taking the view of hotel rooms - I wizzed around the Wynn Hotel, Planet Hollywood, Trump International Hotel and Tower, Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons, Paris, Ballys, Red Rock Canyon Resort and Palms Hotel. The days encompassed special treats like breakfast at Bellagio, shopping at fashion show mall and a trip to Vegas wouldn't be complete without a Show! Vegas is truly a unique and exciting conference and incentive destination.

Highlight of Hawaii: Swimming with the dolphins!! What a truly amazing experience! And something they can do for groups at a fairly reasonable cost.

Highlight of Las Vegas: It was Christmas in the US and in Las Vegas anything goes - they used fake snow in the Bellagio and the Shopping Mall to bring winter to the desert, then it actually did snow outside! I guess if you pray hard enough in Vegas anything really does go.except Black 5 on Table 327 at 3 am!!
