A short weekend break in Fiji (June 2010)  - by Sally Goodchild

On a fine weekend in June 2010, I had the pleasure of hosting four of our clients to a relaxing and fun filled short weekend break in Fiji. This was a joint invitation sponsored by Air Pacific, Intercontinental Fiji and Tourism Fiji.

A reasonable three and a half hour flight on a mid Friday afternoon, saw the group arrive late afternoon at the Intercontinental Fiji just in time to enjoy evening drinks and canapés in the beautiful  Kama Lounge  - a chic bar, perfect for sunset lazing and star gazing. Guests enjoyed their overnight stay in the luxurious and stylish contemporary rooms at the Intercontinental Hotel Fiji.

On Saturday morning, guests enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast buffet followed by a comprehensive site inspection of this great conference venue.  This inspection was followed by one of the ‘must do’ group /conference activities on offer in Fiji – Sigatoka River Safari. Guests enjoy a wild and energetic jet boat ride up the Sigatoka River to a traditional Fijian village.  In the village the Chiefs Bure (house) is on show where the guests take part in a kava ceremony before a tour of the village and traditional Fijian lunch. Before departing for the return Jetboat journey guests were given a nice warm farewell complete with traditional Fijian singing and dancing.

On Saturday evening the group indulged in a few cocktails with spectacular sunset views over the lagoon followed by a culinary feast in the stunning and contemporary Navo Restaurant at the Intercontinental Fiji. It was a fun evening  - leaving everyone really reluctant to leave all this luxury and vowing to return as soon as possible.
Our sincere thanks go to Air Pacific,Intercontinental Fiji and Tourism Fiji for hosting a fantastic weekend short break in Fiji.
